Dr Nick Edwards

Dr Nick Edwards graduated in 1985 from the University of Wales College of Medicine, Cardiff. He is currently senior partner, having joined the practice in 1989, following 3 yrs of postgraduate training mostly at the James Paget hospital in Norfolk. He is also an honorary senior lecturer for the UEA School of Medicine. He is married to an Oceanographer and has 3 children.

Dr Darren Cave


Qualified from St Bartholomew’s Hospital London in 1994, He spent three years in hospital posts before embarking on his general practice career. He spent nearly five years as a GP principle in London before moving to Suffolk and joining the Birches in 2003 as a GP partner. He also teaches medical students and is an honorary senior lecturer for the University of East Anglia. He lives locally with his wife and three young children.

Dr Mohamed Al-Masud

Dr Al-Masud graduated from Dhaka Bangladesh in 1988 and continued his training in Sweden before living and working in England. He lives locally and is married with 2 daughters.

Dr Emma Brierly


Dr Emma Brierly trained at St George’s Hospital Medical School in London and qualified in 1992.

She qualified as a GP in Brighton in 1999 and since then has worked in Brighton and Ipswich before joining The Birches in 2008.

Her area of special interest is Women’s Health, in particular the management of Gynaecological issues and the provision of contraceptive services. Dr. Brierly is pleased to offer an established coil fitting service here at The Birches.

Emma is married with 3 children and enjoys family time, music and gardening.
